Reflections from Aditi

The aftermath of Hurricane Helene serves as a reminder of nature's power to both destroy and renew. This delicate interplay mirrors life’s cycles—how endings often make way for beginnings and how transitions can be profound forces for growth and regeneration.

At CCLD, we create spaces of sanctuary and support amidst uncertainty, striving to ensure that no one weathers life’s storms alone. Through nature's resilience, we can find insights into our own capacity to rebuild and adapt in the face of change. Just as the storm swept through our mountains with both intensity and moments of calm, our members, residents, and families navigate the storms of change and loss with strength and resilience.

Although the winds of Helene have subsided, its deeper lesson remains: our greatest strength comes from community. When we were left without utilities or connectivity, many of us turned to our neighbors, offering love and support. These moments of connection, where we extend a hand to one another, echo the care we provide here at CCLD every day.

I am deeply grateful for the enduring compassion we continue to cultivate together. We ensure that all who pass through our doors do so in the presence of love and respect. Likewise, our wider community knows that they can rely on us for support, as many did in the wake of Hurricane Helene for warm showers, meals, and support circles.

Thank you for your unwavering support during this transformative time. We are open to the unfolding of our expanding role in this ever-changing environment and will continue to lean into the arts and music for guidance as we grow and evolve.
